After having read the walker article it was very clear to me that the author was emphasizing on the big idea of things rather than the small details. It made me realize that most artist do try to capture a big Idea in throughout their career. The big idea will not be achieved by just one simple painting or one sculpture; it takes time and is created through numerous works of art. This article was very interesting to me because I never really thought of all the artworks combining to make one idea. I was just looking at each piece individually and try to capture its meaning.
One thing that was kind of confusing to me was the fact that it jumped around a lot and there were a lot of side notes. I sometimes got lost in my reading but, once I got the structure of the article down it was an easy read.
Barrett Article
In this article it talked a lot about connotation and denotation. Connotation means the associated or secondary meaning of a word or expression in addition to its explicit or primary meaning. To me this is saying that one idea or word has two meanings or kind of like a hidden meaning. Denotation is the explicit or direct meaning or set of meanings of a word or expression, as distinguished from the ideas or meanings associated with it or suggested by it. I think this more means more in your face them telling you directly what’s going on.
At first I had a hard time interpreting the mean of both denotation and connotation but, once I looked it up and they gave examples I was fine.
